Starting A Part-Time Internet Business

Starting a part-time internet business is an excellent way to test the waters and find out if you have what it takes to run a business without risking too much. If you are thinking of starting a business, I would strongly urge you to take the part-time route first. Many successful full-time businesses began this way, and have made their owners a lot of money, and continue to do so.

moneymouse The transition from part-time business to full-time is not that great. Once you have established yourself in your chosen market you will have all the systems in place to make that step up. Even if you decide to remain part-time, you will have an excellent source of income, which will insulate you from the insecurities of your full-time job.

Don’t underestimate the power of a part-time business to build you wealth and create an extra income independent of your full-time job.  There’s many advantages of starting a part-time business. The purpose of this article is to point them out to you and encourage you to take the step into business and create some wealth for you and your family. Here’s just a few of the advantages of a part-time business.

Low Investment

The first advantage of a part-time internet business is the low cost of starting one. You will already have the main equipment necessary like a computer and printer. You can start a part-time internet business for a few hundred pounds. Compare this to the pre-internet days when starting a business involved a major outlay of money and time. A few years ago, I started a part-time business selling second hand computers. This involved me giving my weekends up and traveling round the country to computer markets. I had to load my car up with computers, drive for a few hours, unload them all and stand there all-day. Usually to reload them all back into my car and return home with nothing to show for it.

I had to invest money into the computers, which meant I had a lot of money tied up. There was also the cost of getting onto the markets and the traveling expense. It was a huge investment of time, energy and money. I stopped doing it after a while because it just wasn’t worth it. I started my internet ecommerce business with a hundred pounds and reinvested all the profits to build it up. I now make more money in a week sitting in front of my computer than I made all the time I was selling computers.

Few Expenses

The expenses of a part-time business are low. Apart from a computer, a printer and a good internet connection you’ll need stationery and a log design. And packing materials if you are going to open an online shop. All of which you can buy cheaply. Once your business starts to build up momentum it will become self-financing, paying its own way.

Gain Experience

Experience cannot be bought or taught, it has to be learned. You can read all the reports and books available on trading but until you step into the market, with your own business you cannot build experience. The experience you will get from launching your own part-time business is a real live university course in business. Every move you make will have a consequence. The market will respond to everything you do or fail to do. A year of running your own business will provide you with more real life knowledge than ten years of studying business from someone who may never have run one. With experience, comes confidence and if you do decide to take your business full-time you will be equipped to do so.

Test Your Ideas

You may think you’ve got a great idea, your wife may agree, your mother may be all for it but the only way to test it is to take it to the market. You can use the market to test your ideas out and fine-tune them on a part-time basis. If the market doesn’t like the idea it’s a simple matter of dropping it without having wasted too much of your time and money. A part-time internet business offers you the opportunity to do this.

Extra Money

We can all do with some extra money and a part-time business is a good way to generate an extra income that isn’t dependent on your job. Even an extra hundred a month is a welcome addition to a budget. You can reinvest this in your business and watch it grow into a money-generating machine. Once your business becomes established and starts to grow it will create money giving you a surplus to spend or invest.

Learn New Things

No matter what your business knowledge is, starting a business will increase it. You will have to learn new skills on the fly. Marketing, SEO, stock management, budgeting and bookkeeping to name just a few of the skills you will need to master to succeed.

Test Yourself

Do you have what it takes? Can you remain cool under pressure? Can you continue to think logically when your plans aren’t working? Can you remain positive and continue to formulate plans when nothing seems to be working? Can you rally yourself to charge forward when you’ve taken a battering in the market? You’ll find the answers to all this and more about yourself if you plunge yourself into the market with an idea or some products. You will fail in some things, it’s unavoidable, we all have and we all do, it’s how experience is gained. Each failure will bring you back stronger and wiser than before.

When you triumph though the failures will, all dissolve. When you make a plan and drive it to completion against the forces that are against you, you will experience a great sense of personal achievement, a boost in your self-confidence and your self-esteem will reach new levels.

All these things can be achieved by starting a part-time internet business for little cost. If it’s something you’ve being thinking about, then stop thinking and act. You’re better and more capable than you think you are; you’re braver than you think you are, you know more than you think you do, you are already programmed with everything you need to succeed. All you have to do is take the first step.

Don’t Be Afraid To Fail

July 18, 2009 by admin
Filed under Latest Posts, self development

“Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”
-Winston Churchill

One of the most perverse and worst social programming we have instilled into us from an early age is the fear of failure. We are programmed by our schools, parents and mass media to believe that failure is bad. If we attempt something and fail, we take a self-esteem hit and log it in our memories as failure. This translates as, “I’m not good enough, I can’t do that, he tried and failed.” The “you haven’t got the gift” scenario comes down on our lives and forces us to live out our existence hiding away from new challenges, preferring to live in a little comfort zone where we can stay safe.

So let’s tackle failure. Let’s slay this paper dragon finally. Failure is inevitable for anyone who actually attempts to do something new. It’s just a learning process. It’s inevitable. If you’ve never failed at anything, congratulations, but ask yourself, have you actually ever tried anything? Or have you stayed safe in your little comfort zone. Are you a ship that has never left the harbour, tied to the dock slowly rusting away, the ropes that keep you safely secured slowly fraying. If you are, and you’re happy, good luck, I wish you wel

If you want to cut the ropes however and sail out of the harbour into uncharted and dangerous waters you can expect to fail. You need to fail, you will fail, it’s part of the growing process, part of the way we humans learn, and the only way we really learn. Failure is simply doing something the wrong way. We may have got nine variables right but the tenth wrong resulting in our plan failing.

So what do we do? Hang our head and never attempt it again? No, we examine what we did, what went wrong, formulate another plan and relaunch. If we fail again, we re-examine what we did, what went wrong, replan and relaunch. It’s the natural path to success. Just because you don’t accomplish something at the first or second attempt doesn’t mean you can never accomplish it. You haven’t failed, you’ve gained experience. Just because you’ve never done something doesn’t mean you can never do it.

Failure is the great friend of people who want to accomplish things. When I set up my online business, I made loads of mistakes that cost me. They cost me in lost time and money, I had many little failures but from each one I came through the experience with more knowledge, more firsthand experience and more determination to get it right the next time. How valuable those failures were. I have gained priceless experiences, which have made me more knowledgeable and more confident.

I was brought up to believe that only certain people could do certain things. That businesspersons were successful because they were special; I even believed that politicians were honest! Such beliefs act as chains on people, stopping them from attempting things because they believe they are not good enough.
Our doubts are traitors, & make us lose the good we oft might win by failing to attempt.
Don’t be afraid of failing, love it. It proves you are using your life to tackle new challenges. It proves you are still in the game, you’re a ship at sea charting new courses, you’re riding the storms and taking the hits but you’re doing something that most people don’t. You’re living.

Reasons why failure is good:

It’s The Best Way To Learn

It’s the only way we learn. You can read all the books you want but none will be able to speak to your own unique circumstances. Only by jumping into the battle and taking action, can you learn and succeed.

Mistakes Help Us Grow

Who would you like to have a conversation with a person who has tried a hundred ventures that failed or a person who has done the same thing for the last thirty years? Yeah me too. Failures help us to grow; they make us stronger and wiser.

The Road To Success Is Paved With Failure

It’s a myth that people succeed without effort. Ok there’s some people in our society that are born with the proverbial silver spoon. They have everything and get everything without any effort no matter how stupid they are. They may reach the heights of their profession but they didn’t do it off their own bat. I’m not talking about these people. I’m talking about the rest of us who have to work to carve our own space. If we try something new then we will probably fail to begin with. It’s the natural course of events, the natural learning process.

No Risks No Reward

If you don’t jump into the battle, you can’t test how good your sword is. By attempting new things, we build our character and grow in self-esteem. The mistakes we make provide us with wonderful life experiences from which we can grow. And when we eventually succeed, which we will providing we keep going we can enjoy the rewards of our plans.

You’ve only failed when you accept defeat

Get A Vision

June 29, 2009 by admin
Filed under Latest Posts, self development

iclimbersmall1Companies have vision. A vision of where they want to be in a year or two years time. They then create a strategy followed by plans of how they are going to achieve their vision.

Armies have a vision. A vision of what they want to achieve. They then plan and implement each step of the way to achieve that vision, until they reach their sought after victory. Along the way, things will change which will require changing plans, maybe moving back to move forward in another direction.

What remains constant though is the vision. The vision is solid. It never changes. Everything is aimed towards the target.

To succeed in any enterprise we must have the same kind of vision in our own lives. You must become the general or CEO of your own life. No matter what your current circumstances are, whether you are employed or unemployed, retired or approaching retirement you still need a vision to strive towards.

Without a vision, you are drifting, at the whim of every social wind that hits you, every change in the economy. Without a vision, you have handed control of your life over to others who don’t have your interests at heart.

With a vision you’re making your own trail, without one you’re been dragged through paths you may not like. Are you happy with your life? If you are fair enough, thanks for reading. If you’re not then do something about it.

The first thing you need to do is create a vision. A vision is an image in your mind of where you want to be within a certain time frame. What you want to achieve in certain areas of your life.

I have a vision that I want to create a successful online company. My large vision is of a large successful ecommerce website making enough profit for me to enjoy a good lifestyle. In order to achieve that vision I have broken it down into smaller goals. Goals to be achieved within a certain timeframe that will get me closer to the big vision. The important thing is the vision.

I am aiming for this target. This is the ground I as the CEO or general of my own life, I must reach. Everything I do is aimed towards it. My destination is specific. I know exactly what I want to achieve and in what timeframe. I’m focused and determined. So far, I’ve encounted lots of problems along my chosen route.

Sometimes I’ve had to tread water while I come up with a solution to a specific problem. But the vision remains. The target is still there. The obstacle is a temporary blockage to be overcome.

With vision comes focus. Powerful focus is like light focused into a laser, it is unstoppable.

If you don’t have a vision of where you want to be. Stop right now. Take some time out and think about what you would like to achieve. Write it down. Then think of the time frame you would like to achieve it in. Write this down.

Once you have a clear vision of what you would like to achieve break it down into small steps then aim for it. Make all the decisions required to hit the target. Become the CEO or general of your own life. Your life on this planet is too important to leave it for others to decide what’s best for you. Get a vision and become all you can be.

7 Reasons To Set Goals

7 Reasons To Set Goals

Everybody knows about goal setting these days. It’s not a new subject, in fact hearing people going on about it is boring. I know this but I’m going to post on it anyway. Goal setting is crucial to structure your life and measure achievement. It’s becomming almost a cliche but it’s true non the less that successful people are goal setters. Apart from measuring progress achieving goals, however small, gives us a great boost. We feel energized when we achieve a goal we have set and ready to move forward. Here’s 7 good reasons why you should set goals.

A Goal Gives You A Target

It’s obvious I know but needs to be stated. Give yourself a target and you will head towards it. Without a target you’re drifting. You may be drifting fast, you may be busy but you’re drifting. Set a specific goal for your business like for example how much money you want to make in a month and you have something to aim for. Now you have a stated goal you’re like a guided missile, zoned into a target, you have meaning. You may need to set smaller goals to reach the main goal but you are moving with meaning.

Goals Give Structure To Your Life,/p>

Let’s face it, life without goals can seem like a featureless desert. By having goals we impose a structure on this desert. imagine getting up every day with absolutely nothing to do, nothing to look forward to, nothing to aim for. Some people may call this heaven, I’d call it hell. Goals give us meaning.

Achieving Goals Energizes You

Achieving even the smallest goal reinforces our will power and encourages us to move forward. There’s no feeling like the feeling you get from setting and achieving a goal. Tests have proven that our self esteem increases with each goal we achieve. We grow in confidence every time we tick off a goal we have reached.

Goals Focus Us

How much time and effort do we waste on pointless tasks that lead us no where? Having a goal forces us to focus specifically on certain tasks that will move us towards our goals. It helps us eliminate pointless tasks and keeps us targeted. A goal is like a laser beam, concentrated and pwerful as opposed to weak diffused light.

Goals Make Us Proactive

By having goals we become proactive rather than reactive. we set the rules and play to them. We are not just waiting for things to happen to us we are creating the conditions we want to happen. We are utilizing our creativity to engineer life the way we want it. This is far better than being a reactive zombie, a sheep waiting for someone to usher you from one field to another.

Measure Growth

We can measure our progress by using goals. Our goals are like steps leading us to our objectives. If, at the beginning of the year, we set a number of goals and achieve them, we know we have progressed. Compare this to a year spent drifting.

I’ve become a zealous goal setter. I’ve seen my business grow because I’ve started to set goals. Before I tended to drift towards targets, now I move with a determined effort. I get a great feeling of achievement with each goal achieved, however small. I don’t need other people to tell me I’m doing well and I’m not bothered if people think I’m not doing so well. As long as I hit my targets and achieve my goals I know I am Progressing. And as long as I know, that’s all that matters.

Reinvent Yourself

March 22, 2009 by admin

It’s not just celebrities who can reinvent themselves. We too need to change the way we behave if we want to achieve new dreams. If we carry on doing the same old things then we will get the same results. To build an extra income from starting a small business whether full-time or part-time requires that we look at things differently. We’ve arrived where we are today because of decisions we’ve taken or failed to take in the past. If you’ve reached middle-age and found that your pension has disappeared, your job is shaky you need to stop and think.

You need to reprogramme yourself to move in a different direction to start building some personal wealth for yourself. Look at yourself like a computer. The old software that you’ve been running is no longer up to the job. You need to upgrade to take into account the changing circumstances.

If you’ve been content to just drift along you need to change and become the leader of your life. You need to recognise that the only person with your welfare at heart is yourself. There’s no loyalty in companies anymore and the government is not your friend. And trusting your money to the banks is complete stupidity. To build a wealth pot you need to programme yourself to do it.

To begin reprogramming yourself you need to input new beliefs and ideas. Do this by reading books by positive successful people or listening to audios. Keep away from negative people who will drag you down to their level. It’s generally true that we stay within the same income level of the people we socialize with. We have instilled in us the social norms of the people we socialize with every day. This doesn’t mean you have to cut yourself off from friends just that you need to be vigilant about not allowing their negative thoughts to influence you.

Visualize yourself in a different way. Just because you believed something for a number of years doesn’t mean you have to keep believing it. Things change requiring that we re-evaluate our position, re-group and move forward in another direction.

The home you live in, the car you drive the state of your finances are all down to the belief system you have held up to now. Everything we see or hear throughout the day affects our belief system and the way we look at ourselves. If we constantly assimilate negative or fatalistic beliefs then we will never progress. We need to block out negative beliefs. Avoid the “it’s pointless” brigade or “there’s too many at it” people. If you want to build yourself an extra income you can. Not you might be able to but you can.

The condition is you must believe you can do it. You must believe it with an all encompassing passion. The second condition is you must act on it. Powerful beliefs and determined focused action are an unbeatable combination. Start to reprogram yourself today with constant positive reinforcement. Build a small library of positive books; listen to positive audios, read something positive every day. Create a new image for yourself. Imagine the kind of person you would like to be and become that person.

If you’ve always let others solve problems become the problem solver. Become aware of your self-talk, refuse to accept any negatives. If you are telling yourself that you’ve never been able to do something tell yourself you can. Think about it, it’s ridiculous that because we were not very good at something twenty years ago we still can’t do it now.

Reinforce your positive self talk by remembering successes you’ve had. If you’ve just stared trading and made your first sale congratulate yourself on that success. Don’t play it down or underestimate it. It was a success and if you can do it once you can do it again. You’ve broken through a barrier be proud.

Sign up for free positive emails delivered to you every day. When you open your email see a positive quote to start the day.

Put yourself on a mission, not a part-time hobby but a mission to build an extra income. Once you accept the mission and ingrain it deep within your psyche things will change. You will begin to see opportunities around you. Problems will not be walls stopping your advance but things to solve. To begin creating wealth start by changing your thinking and the rest will follow. It’s never too late to re-program yourself.
