<p>With the way the economy has been these days, people are losing their jobs or have to deal with pay cuts. These unfortunate situations have caused a flood of people seeking to supplement or replace their lost income by starting home based online businesses.

With tons of opportunities available, most jump at the first one that seems promising. Usually, these are overly hyped programs that promise the world only to cause frustration and disappointment.

People need to realize that starting an Internet business is not like winning the lottery, there is actual work involved. You most likely will not become a millionaire in a month by promoting weight-loss pills. Online business success requires a lot of research and learning the ropes of what kind of business to start and how to operate it.

Here are five things that will ensure your failure with starting a business online:

- Not Taking Action

Having a great business idea and never putting it into action is the most common cause of failure. If you want something happen, you need to make it happen.

- Unrealistic Expectations

Expecting results that are not realistic can disappoint you and can cause you to give up. Keep your goals reachable and when you reach them you will be proud of the progress.

- Lack of Commitment

Not committing to your business venture will cause you to not finish what you started. You need to stay committed to your plan and stick with it until the end.

- Not Properly Prepared

Being ill prepared will have you going in all directions without really knowing what you are doing. Be prepared, make sure you research everything you need to know before jumping into an online business.

- Lack of Passion and Excitement

Not being interested in or passionate about what you are doing can kill your motivation. Make sure the business you decide on is something that you are passionate about, this will keep you excited and motivated with what you are involved with.

The possibility of running a successful home based online business is very possible. You need to keep your eye on the prize and never give up. Like with any business, success takes time and effort. Do not give up if you do not see results right away. Make realistic goals and follow through with everything you need to do to make your online business successful.

Getting An Ecommerce Shop

There’s no getting away from it if you want to be serious about starting an online business then you are going to need an online store at some time. This is the only way of pushing your business forward and becoming a fully-fledged online entrepreneur. A good quality online store will cost you a few hundred pounds; this is an expense you will have to take on board at some time in your online business adventure.

How you do this is up to you. Personally, I waited until I had made enough profits from trading on eBay to pay a professional to design and code an online store for me.

My own business strategy was an initial investment to purchase stock and then to let the business pay its own way. I took a sum of money, invested it to start the business then used the profits to build the business. This wasn’t done overnight. It took time, but it wasn’t long before I’d built up enough profits to invest in an online store. This moved my business to a new level.

Your store needs to be professional. It doesn’t have to have lots of flashing neon signs, it’s better if it doesn’t. It does however; need to be secure, fast and functional, with a nice easy design to make the shopping experience pleasant for the customer. Having a good online store may seem to be a big step for someone just starting out. Don’t be overwhelmed by the project.

The beauty of an online business is that you can take small steps every week to lead you to your goal.

The cost of starting online is so low that you are not under pressure to pay rents and rates, for example, like you would be with a bricks and mortar business. Build slowly rather than rushing in. If your long-term objective is to have an online store then start by getting the logo done first. You can begin using this straight away in your eBay listings and letterheads.

When your profits start to rise, begin looking around for a good web designer. Don’t go for the cheapest, this is always a mistake. An ecommerce store is more than just appearance. It needs to be able to take payments over the net, it needs to be secure and be easy for you to use. To add products to and make changes to the postage etc. Choose your web designer carefully. Use the internet to learn what a good ecommerce store should have. Only choose a web designer who can show you his work. Live websites running and working.

Choosing a web designer for an online store is one of the most important decisions you will make in your online business career. Your ecommerce is your shop window to the world. It’s where you can compete with the big boys. You may not be able to spend a few million pounds buying a department store to compete with the big boys, but you can get an excellent ecommerce site created that looks just as good if not better than the established big companies can. Even if you are operating out of your bedroom.

In my opinion, the best place to find a designer is on Elance.com. This is a site where freelancers advertise for work. I can strongly recommend this site. I have used it on many occasions for graphics for my sites. People from all over the world advertise on the site.

You can get a professional web designer from India for a fraction of the cost you would pay in the west. And these people are good. You can hire anyone to do anything on Elance. Bookkeeping, design, graphics, you name there’s people on there just waiting to be hired. And they are fast.

I hired a guy from Pakistan to design me a header for one of my sites and he did it within three hours. I asked for a few changes and the whole job was completed within a day. When looking for someone to build you an ecommerce store you need to ensure they are good at design as well as coding. It’s no good having a great coded who can’t design a nice looking store. You could split the contract and hire a separate designer and coder.

In this case, you would hire the designer first. The designer would work with you to design the look of your site. Once you are happy you would then look for a coder to make the design become a live website. Hire the best you can afford.

Your profits, if it is done right, will soon pay for the site. An ecommerce shop is not an area that you can skimp on. If you can’t afford an experience designer then wait until you can. Don’t be tempted to buy a cheaper version. It may look good but there may be problems that won’t manifest until the site is running. These will then cost you more money to put right.

Time Of Opportunity

We are living in possibly the best time in history to become an entrepreneur. New technology has made the world smaller and made it possible for anyone to start a business from his or her own home for minimum cost.

You don’t need to have any kind of licence; you don’t need lots of money. You don’t need to have any qualifications, your age is irrelevant, your race is irrelevant, and your past is irrelevant. All you need is the self-belief, the will and an idea and you are good to go. The only thing that can hold you back is yourself. You can be creating a small income online within a day.

You can begin building your own wealth now, all you need to do is take action. Everybody and anybody can start a small business and begin creating wealth. I was listening to a conversation recently where a man was complaining to one of his friends that he was only getting £60.00 a month from his company pension.

He looked fit and strong yet he was limiting his lifestyle to £60.00 a month. Do you know how easy it is to earn that money on the internet? With a little effort, he could be earning hundreds of pounds a month.

So what puts people off starting their own wealth-building plan? It’s laziness. Most people are not prepared to put in the effort required to start their own part-time enterprise.

Make no mistake it does require some effort, especially at the beginning. You will need to learn a new skill set, which will require you putting in some study time.

You will need to step out of your comfort zone and move into new areas. One of the biggest reasons I heat from people who want to start a business but keep putting it off is that they don’t have the time.

This is just an excuse. We can all find 15 hours a week. Just turn off the TV, stop idly surfing the internet, don’t buy anymore computer games, and the time you will free up will be enough to put into a wealth-building plan.

It really is a great time to become an entrepreneur; there are no restrictions. All you need is a plan and the determination to implement it.

If you’ve been thinking about starting your own business, then get working on the plan and take advantage of the opportunities available to you today.

Ecommerce Store

The internet has opened up enormous opportunities for us all to get into business and earn another income. It has levelled the playing field for everyone and made it easy to get on line and sell products through an ecommerce store.

What do I mean by that? Simple. Imagine before the internet if you wanted to open a shop and compete against one of the retailing giants. Say you wanted to open a bike shop next to a Halfords superstore; your chances of success would be minimal. You would lose your shirt within months as the superstore sucked the customers away from you.

On the internet, this problem does not exist. You can put an ecommerce website up and compete with the established companies on an equal footing. In the virtual shopping market, your site can be the equal of if not better than the big players.

For a fraction of the cost of opening a brick and mortar store, you can build a virtual online store that will compete with the big boys.

This is the beauty of the internet. This is the potential you have to leverage this wonderful opportunity and launch yourself into business. This is how the internet has levelled the playing field and made it possible for anyone to compete with the big players even on a part-time basis.

Without a doubt, we are fortunate to be living through an age of great opportunities for those who are prepared to grasp them. Not only can you compete with the big players you can actually beat them at certain things.

True their buying power means they may be able to sell things cheaper. You however have the advantage that as a small business you can give a personal service the big players can only dream of.

To contact one of the big stores you have to go through an annoying screening process before being passed around from one call centre to another. You have no such problems. Customers can deal with you personally and know they are dealing with a real person and not a bureaucracy.

You may not realise it but this is a great advantage. It gives you an edge to exploit.

The opportunities for starting a small business on the internet have never been greater. This is the best way to build your wealth. For a small investment, you can have a business generating you an income week after week.

It’s the new age of an economy driven by small home businesses leveraging the power of the internet. Don’t miss this opportunity.

The Guru’s Secret

September 19, 2009 by admin

If you’ve been looking around the internet for ways to start a business. Or if you’re running a business and have been looking for ways to increase your sales you will have come across the so-called gurus. You know “I was broke then discovered the secret of…” fill in the blanks.

These people are easily recognized,  they all claim to have discovered a secret.  They have discovered a mystical secret that has so far eluded all humanity. A secret that will bring you untold riches without having to do very much, maybe just spend two hours a day at your computer, and, hey presto, you’re a millionaire within six months.

They won’t give you this secret for nothing; ho no. They want to help you so they’ve written this secret down in a 50-page eBook that they want to sell to you for $37.00.

This secret is so special that they could easily get $200.00 for the book but as a special offer, and because they truly want to help you, they will let you have the book for a one-time bargain of $37.00. They’re sales page is convincing; it will be because they may have had it written by a professional copywriter, whose role in life is to write convincing copy.

If you come across any of these guys, leave the page immediately; don’t allow yourself to be sucked in by the hype and the testimonials, usually by their friends or partners. You have no need to part with your money because I’m going to give you the secret right now to business success for nothing. Yes, you read that right, I have the secret and you can have it. Here it is.

The secret to business success; whether part-time or full-time, is to take action and work hard. Continue to take action and continue to work on a daily basis and you will achieve your business goals.

You are not going to achieve anything in the business world overnight. Most of us would love to be able to earn easy money, but unless you’re a politician, it’s not going to happen. Especially not in business.

smile If you’ve got an easy money mentality then you will not succeed because you won’t be strong enough to keep moving forward and working when your business has got stuck in a rut and no matter what you do, you just cannot seem to get out of it.

When you embark on a business journey, be prepared for a long haul. For lots of challenges. Running a business is not a weeklong game; it takes time to build a customer base and trust. There’s no magical secret. There’s no business success without work and taking action.

You can research and research and research but until you take that first all-important step, you will not succeed at anything. Forget the gurus, they just want you to buy their books and make them rich. Your objective is to make yourself rich, so use the secret; action and work.
